Why Autotuner
For workshops adding ECU remapping as a service line, Autotuner is the most pragmatic standalone hardware on the market. The unit reads modern ECUs across OBD, bench, and boot tricore Infineon (BSL) modes, and the protocol library is updated continuously without an annual fee — meaning the tool stays useful for the full life of the hardware.
The Cortex M3 hardware reads ECU memory fast. The automatic cloud-side TriCore password backup is the underrated feature: it means a failed write on a tricky ECU isn’t a catastrophe — the password is preserved and recovery is straightforward.
How it works in practice
Workshops typically use Autotuner alongside a master tuning partner. You read the file on the vehicle, send it cloud-side to your master tuner for calibration, then write the modified file back via the same tool. The customer car never leaves your bay; the master tuner provides the calibration expertise.
